HOW IN NYC?

Doing Church Backwards!

Over the past few months we have researched how people in NYC, specifically LIC, view their spiritual lives.

Here is what we found:
  • People are not looking for a church service to attend.
  • People will serve their community before they will attend a worship service.
  • People are looking for ways to develop deeper relationships.
  • People are lacking in a proper understanding of Biblical Christianity.
This research has helped us shape our method of church planting in NYC. Instead of the traditional model of launching a weekly worship service, we decided to do church backwards. The vision of New-City Church is to transform culture  through transformed lives.

EXPRESSIONS OF GRACE: We start with capitalizing on the importance of community service that is already present. By inviting both Christ followers and unbelievers to serve our community together we believe that they will begin to better understand who we are, what we represent and be open to hear the message of Christ we have to share.

AUTHENTIC RELATIONSHIPS: Next we challenge unbelievers to take a small step by attending an in-home small group that encourages both authentic relationships and Biblical conversations. We want to help them take a deeper look at the Christian life.

OWNERSHIP OF FAITH: Finally as they begin to embrace Christ as Savior we want them to understand what it means to be part of the Body of Christ. This is expressed through corporate worship, leadership and evangelism.
